$250 million for regional infrastructure projects


The federal government is providing $250 million for regional infrastructure development through the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF), with applications now open for Round 6.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, Barnaby Joyce, said: “This latest investment in new projects will build on the 298 fantastic regional projects that have shared funding of $300 million in the latest round of the Building Better Regions Fund. .

The Round 6 funding brings the total federal government investment through the BBRF to $1.38 billion.

The BBRF supports economic and social infrastructure for the long-term benefit of regional communities.

Projects will be funded through two streams:

  1. The Infrastructure Projects stream supports the construction of new infrastructure or the upgrading or extension of existing infrastructure
  2. The Community Investments stream funds community development activities, including but not limited to new or expanded local events, strategic regional plans, leadership and capacity building activities.

Applications close on Thursday, February 10, 2022.
