Arunachal signs pact with NHLML for infrastructure development


Itanagar: The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Highway Logistics Management Limited (NHMLL), an SPV of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for infrastructure development in the state.

The MoU was signed Friday in Guwahati by Special Secretary of the State Department of Transportation, Parul Gaur Mittal, and NHLML CEO, Prakash Gaur, in the presence of the Minister of Road Transport and Highways of the State. Union, Nitin Gadkari, and Chief Minister, Pema Khandu, said an official statement here.

Announced in the Union Budget (2022-23) for the construction of cable cars over hilly terrain across the country to connect inaccessible areas, decongest urban areas and improve tourism in the states, the draft national program of Parvatmala ropeway is undertaken by the NHLML as the implementing agency.

The MoU should enable efficient implementation, development, construction, operation and maintenance of the identified projects.

It would also lead to connecting remote and serene places in Arunachal Pradesh to the general public, making them more accessible not only to locals but also helping to attract tourists in large numbers, the statement added.
