Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s proposed transfer to Chelsea is said to be on hold after the Premier League club ‘withdrew’ their €15million offer.
Barcelona are willing to sell the 33-year-old despite only signing him from Arsenal in January.
He has recently emerged as a surprise target for Chelsea, with Thomas Tuchel hoping to bolster his attack ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Aubameyang worked with Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund and the pair are said to have a strong relationship.
Manchester United have also been linked with the former Gunners captain.
Barcelona have reportedly asked Chelsea to pay 25 million euros for Aubameyang, with the Premier League club unsurprisingly reluctant to do so.
The Gabon international left Arsenal due to a number of disciplinary issues, joined Barca on a free transfer and is 33, so it’s understandable the Blues haven’t offered more than €15m .
A loan agreement has been discussed, in accordance with Athleticismbut it has been said by Fabrizio Romano that Barca and Chelsea are embroiled in ‘complicated’ negotiations.
And according to COPE corresponding Helen Condisthe Blues have now ‘withdrawn’ their €15m offer to sign Aubameyang.
This means that a move is currently blocked.
The situation is rather sensitive at the moment after Aubameyang fractured his jaw after thieves broke into his home in the Catalan city.
News of Chelsea blocking a deal to sign the experienced striker came shortly after a triple update on Blues targets Wilfried Zaha, Anthony Gordon and Arsen Zakharyan.
Gordon has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for several weeks and there have been several reports of offers made for the young Evertonian.
Whether it’s bidding £45m, being prepared to put £60m on the table, offering Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja as part of a players plus cash deal, it was a very interesting saga.
Everton boss Frank Lampard says Chelsea missed their deadline to sign the player and standard sports now say Londoners are no longer interested in prosecuting Gordon.
Speaking after his side’s draw at Leeds United on Tuesday, Lampard said: “He’s too important a player and I think he’s shown his worth in the last two games.
“And with two days now to go [until the transfer window closes]what would be the use of doing anything with Anthony?
“Obviously the interest has been there because he’s a top player. And that’s why we’re so keen on keeping him.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace striker Wilfried Zaha is ‘unlikely’ to join Chelsea, the report adds.
The Blues are believed to be keen on signing Dinamo Moscow midfielder Zakharyan but could struggle to complete a deal.
Sanctions are being imposed on the Russian economy due to the war in Ukraine which means Chelsea are unexpected to be able to activate the 19-year-old’s £12.6m release clause.
