Successful candidates will:

  • Design, research and write case studies that can be used in educational and engagement contexts.
  • Be autonomous with a solid experience in the creation of a range of creative products.
  • Have the ability to develop a solid knowledge of the School of Cybernetics curriculum.
  • Be able to organize data into outputs that focus on a managerial or technical decision or concept.

In accordance with their relative ability to do so, a B-level scholar will have a relevant PhD degree or equivalent accreditation and subsequent research (or R&D) experience. This may not apply to applicants from different fields such as industry or government.

The School of Cybernetics is the first new school established at ANU in the 21st century. The school will build on the foundational work of the Innovation Institute for Autonomy, Agency and Assurance (3Ai), and will also develop systems and design capabilities. Cybernetics is central to the school’s work as a tool that sparks new ways of thinking and new possibilities for the future. We focus on systems as the unit of analysis and driver of action for industries working with complexity and we generate new approaches to shaping the future through and with technology. The school creates programs that combine education, research and engagement, giving staff the opportunity to create new ways of working, to imagine something different, grounded in a diverse and inclusive culture.

Job Overview

This position is a fixed-term contract for a period of 2 years to develop technical case studies for different media for teaching and extension purposes.

Applications are particularly sought from researchers who undertake high-impact collaborative and interdisciplinary research and whose expertise contributes to the School.

A longer term and/or continuing appointment may be offered in exceptional cases, subject to performance and budget availability, and the candidate’s demonstrated ability and desire to complement the College’s strategic programs in teaching, research and broader engagement within the University and the community.
