ETS-Lindgren Announces Technical Contributions to IMS2022

CEDAR PARK, Texas – May 5, 2022 – ETS-Lindgren announced its technical contributions to the International Microwave Symposium (IMS) 2022, the industry’s premier microwave symposium, taking place from May 19 to June 24 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado. Organized by the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S), the in-person symposium draws thousands of attendees from around the world. Prior to the 2019 pandemic, IMS had nearly 9,500 attendees from more than 50 countries around the world, along with a record 650 exhibiting companies, making it the largest event dedicated to the radio frequency and wireless industry. microwaves in the world. ETS-Lindgren engineers will be presenting at the MicroApps Industry Workshops and Technical Programs and supporting ETS-Lindgren Booth #8037 at the IMS2022 in-person expo.

Michael Foegelle, Director, Technology Development at ETS-Lindgren, will present in the industry workshop “New 5G Measurement Techniques in Various Environments” scheduled for Tuesday, June 21, 1:30-3:10 PM MDT, in Room 205/207. With speakers Aurelian Bria from Ericsson AB and Dennis Lewis from Boeing, Dr. Foegelle will discuss how 5G and emerging wireless technologies are being considered in a wide range of frequency bands to support a density of users considerably increased. With the industry’s adoption of multi-user MIMO, massive MIMO, and mmWave in emerging wireless systems, several industries and standards organizations around the world are facing new measurement challenges in New Radio testing ( NR) Over-the-Air (OTA) to verify that products meet expectations. performance parameters demanded by various technological requirements. Applications in various environments, such as commercial aircraft and base stations, will be considered. Dr. Foegelle, an active contributor to 5G wireless industry standards committees, joins Mr. Bria and Mr. Lewis to examine testing challenges and propose new solutions.

Jari Vikstedt, Director, Wireless Solutions, ETS-Lindgren, and Garth D’Abreu, Director, Automotive Solutions, will present in the industry workshop “Emerging EMC Requirements for 5G mmWave Device Measurements” scheduled for Thursday, June 23 , from 10:10 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. MDT, in room 205/207. Guest speakers include Jason Coder from the National Institute for Standards & Technology and Aurelian Bria from Ericsson AB. Speakers will discuss the unique challenges that 5G NR technology presents to achieving electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) for 5G devices and how this depends on the existence of achievable and appropriate regulatory requirements, including meaningful test methods to demonstrate the conformity. This workshop will explore new developments in test methods focused on meeting FCC regulatory requirements, but with global applications, with presentations focusing on wireless coexistence and automotive applications. Speakers will also provide information on new methods for testing radiated emissions and research into the use of reverberation chamber test methodology for faster TRP measurements.
