Freudenberg Performance Materials Apparel (Freudenberg) has established an Asia Technical Apparel Solution Center at its Nantong plant in China to expand the company’s innovation capabilities. With a floor area of ​​900 square meters, the new center offers unrivaled technical expertise and innovations to apparel customers from nearly every apparel segment in Asia and globally.

Committed to providing enhanced technical support and services tailored to customer needs, the dedicated Apparel Technical Solution Center – Asia (ATSC) is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. This includes a wide variety of fusing and gluing machines, laser and ultrasonic cutters, specialist sewing machines for sportswear applications, fiber filling machines for insulation applications and washing machines. and dry cleaning according to GB and AATCC standards.

ATSC offers unrivaled technical know-how to help customers design complex wearable solutions. In particular, it reinforces Freudenberg’s dedication to joint innovation with sportswear customers and to finding engineered solutions for performance applications.

The plant was moved to the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Zone to meet the increased production demand with advanced technological capabilities. Covering an area of ​​nearly 50,000 square meters with production lines for cotton interlining, bi-elastic fusible interlining and preformed materials, the new site was commissioned in 2021.

Dedicated to the continuous improvement of production quality, the new plant also includes an innovative online defect detection system. This system captures real-time defect information and sends it to operators for immediate adjustments, increasing the rate of bi-elastic interfacings and Class A shirt interfacings. In-line automatic weft density adjustment helps to improve the stability of the drying process and the quality of semi-finished products.

Elsewhere, Freudenberg is building a apparel center of excellence in Sant’ Omero, Italy, which is expected to begin finishing and coating base materials for apparel applications next year. This site is one of two apparel-related competence centers established by Freudenberg in Europe as part of a restructuring of its textile business announced in January 2021. The other site, located in Weinheim, Germany, houses weft production and basic material craftsmanship.
