Leicester City reject Chelsea’s £70m bid for Wesley Fofana

Chelsea are said to be confident of Wesley Fofana’s arrival this week and have spent the weekend preparing a magical third offer to sway the hearts and minds of the Foxes. But it would seem third time wasn’t quite the charm as Leicester City dismissed him almost as quickly as he was submitted, just as they had with the first two.

Now, okay, the third bid still wasn’t quite as high as Leicester’s £80m-plus asking price, but £70m (including bonuses) is certainly no change either. pocket-sized and well on the outrageous level (if not already above) for a 21-year-old defender with just one full season of professional experience (less than 100 total appearances).

Fofana had missed Leicester’s 2-1 home defeat at the weekend and is also not expected to feature in tonight’s League Cup second round tie at Stockport County. It was seen as a sign of an imminent deal with Chelsea on a transfer, although we can recall that Jules Koundé was also excused from Sevilla this time last season, and he ended up staying regardless (and n is no longer registered in Barcelona: HA- HA).

Chelsea face Leicester City this Saturday but if Fofana plays he may not be in Blue.
