Liverpool news and transfers LIVE – Sadio Mane offer rejected, James Milner new deal, Darwin Nunez eyeing

Milner set to sign new deal

James Milner is reportedly set to sign a new one-year contract at Liverpool, snubbing offers from the Premier League and overseas to stay at Anfield.

The 36-year-old has been a key member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad since arriving on a free transfer from Manchester City seven years ago, his versatility and professional attitude making him invaluable to a team that continues to run after the trophies.

Milner won six major trophies during his time with the Reds but saw playing time gradually dwindle over time, taking on a more sporadic but important role with the team. Many had hoped to see the three-time Premier League winner stay on Merseyside, which now appears to be the case ahead of the 2022/23 season.

A latest report from The Times claimed the veteran midfielder is set to ignore offers from elsewhere to stay at the club, albeit on ‘significantly reduced terms’. Milner has reportedly turned down a two-year contract offer from two Premier League clubs and an MLS side, according to Athletic, with confirmation of the new contract expected later this week.
