According to a narration from another person in the video, the young man was sent by his boss to buy construction materials for the sum of 250 GHc.
However, he wanted to double the money quickly and so walked into a betting center to bet the money.
Unfortunately for him, however, his predictions didn’t materialize and he had to cry and beg others for help after he lost his money through betting.
Last month, a church elder named Jonathan also revealed that his gambling addiction had caused him to lose GHc800,000 to sports betting.
According to the church leader, he once owned three houses and a fleet of cars, but lost it all gambling.
He said a friend introduced him to sports betting and he was winning at first, which prompted him to bet with more money.
Jonathan said he had won up to 80,000 GHc but wanted more so he bet a bigger amount on his third attempt which was the start of his gambling addiction.
“I was introduced to betting by a friend, and my first bet was Ghc5000. I was a newbie, but the guy who introduced me was good at sports analysis, so I got a profit from Ghc3900,” he told Accra-based 3FM.
“The second time I placed a bet of Ghc3000 and won Ghc5000. The third time I bet 20,000 Ghc and won 80,000 Ghc. I asked God, where was it during all this time and I suffered.
“I had no idea there was such an avenue to make myself rich, and that day the spirit of betting ran deep in my mind and blood.”
Jonathan said that when he started losing bets, he withdrew his savings and used them to place another bet.
He added that he even borrowed money from people to gamble, which left him with huge debts to pay.
Having now repented, Jonathan said he now preaches against gambling to prevent young people from repeating their mistakes.
