Paris Saint-Germain looking to hijack Barcelona’s offer for Robert Lewandowski?

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly considering trying to hijack Barcelona’s offer for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.

Paris Saint Germain would have identified Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski as a potential summer signing.

The 33-year-old enjoyed a legendary spell at the Allianz Arena, scoring 344 goals and winning 19 pieces of silverware during his eight-year spell.

However, the relationship between the player and the club has broken down in recent weeks, with the two sides at odds over Lewandowski seeing the final year of his contract.

Rather than keep trying to defuse the situation, it looks like the Bundesliga champions are facing the prospect of having to try and reject more offers for their key man.

According The TeamPSG are monitoring the situation and are ready to intervene if it turns out that Barcelona can’t get a deal on the line.

As things stand, Lewandowski is only interested in signing for the Catalan giants, a sentiment that has already been acknowledged and widely reported.

However, Barcelona need to raise substantial funds to be able to finalize a deal, with the club also waiting to secure the free transfers from Andreas Christensen and Frank Kessie formalized.

Those deals apparently won’t be finalized until sales are made or further pay cuts are taken by the big earners, and that leaves Lewandowski the possibility of having to remain patient to secure his ideal transfer.

If Barcelona continue to struggle with their main task, PSG would be ready to make an official offer, probably beyond what Barcelona are capable of offering.

The Ligue 1 champions are also in a position where they would need to offload players with Neymar and Mauro Icardi both considered available if the price is right.

This rings especially true for the latter who was limited to just 10 starts in the French top flight and Champions League last season due to the form of Kylian Mbappe and presence of Lionel Messi.

PSG are currently in the process of appointing a new head coach after it was widely reported over the weekend that Mauricio Pochettino had been sacked by the authorities at the Parc des Princes.

However, with the sporting director Luis Campos Having already started his new role and a managerial appointment in sight, PSG will press ahead with their transfer plans for the summer.

If the reports are to be believed, the central defender of Inter Milan Milan Skriniar is another player on their radar ahead of 2022-23.
