Advisor to LG, Umang Narula chairing SIDCO board meeting in Leh.

LEH, Sep 17: LG Ladakh Advisor Umang Narula, who is also Chairman of Sindhu Infrastructure Development Corporation (SIDCO), Ltd, chaired the 2nd Board Meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Leh today.
Sindhu Infrastructure Development Corporation was incorporated under the Companies Act 2013 to accelerate the development of infrastructure and economy in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The Board conducted a detailed review of the actions taken following the decisions taken at the first SIDCO meeting and discussed further action plans to establish SIDCO as a leading agency in Ladakh to undertake the works infrastructure in accordance with its mandate.
Executive Director, SIDCO, Ladakh, Lakshay Singhal made a detailed presentation on the agenda items submitted to the Board of Directors, including finalization and approval of SIDCO’s logo and motto; adoption of a common corporate seal; job creation; finalization and approval of draft recruitment/service rules; delegation of administrative and financial power to the officers of the board of directors; allocation of the charge of various positions; outsourcing of ministerial staff; progress report of the various works entrusted to SIDCO; among others.
The board also approved the appointment of Anurag Goyal (IRS), senior adviser for Ladakh NITI Aayog, as the board’s ex officio director.
Councilor Narula pointed out that for the sustainable development of the industrial sector in Ladakh, it is imperative for the society to work with a forward-looking vision in addition to an effective strategy in tune with modern trends and mechanisms. He added that more projects should be undertaken and tasked with recruiting the necessary manpower. He further said that it could generate employment opportunities as the company will promote industry, tourism, transportation and marketing of local products and handicrafts in line with the objective of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Administrative Secretary, Planning, Development and Monitoring, Ladakh; Anurag Goyal, Senior Advisor for Ladakh NITI Aayog; Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Administrative Secretary, Department of Public Works (R&B), Ladakh; Saugat Biswas, Administrative Secretary, Department of Industries and Commerce, Ladakh and other relevant officials.
