Striving to be a sustainability leader in the data center industry, STACK has achieved this fundamental milestone in accordance with its OnePurpose program, dedicated to environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices. Operating sustainable infrastructure is a collective duty, and STACK has partnered with its customers to align its environmental goals to continue to operate facilities using 100% renewable energy on an ongoing basis.

Beyond its extensive commitment to renewable energy and the design, construction and operation of efficient, water-efficient facilities, STACK deviates from conventional industry concepts and tests other avenues of more environmentally friendly processes and technologies to continue its aggressive pursuit of a more sustainable environment. business model. STACK uses low-carbon concrete and recycled steel to reduce embodied carbon in its new facilities. Additionally, STACK is piloting the use of fossil-free renewable diesel fuel, such as hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), and scale battery deployments as alternatives to fossil diesel for backup power needs. The successful completion of STACK’s 100% renewable energy initiative follows several significant development announcements. Over the past month, STACK announced three new data center campus projects, expanding its responsible data center development and operations around the world.

STACK’s offerings include opportunities in key regions across the Americas, Asia-Pacific and EMEA with the following newest developments underway:

  • A 36 MW campus in Inzai, Japan begin in the second quarter of 2022 with capacity expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2023. This step follows the recent announcement of STACK’s entry into the APAC market with the opening of its regional headquarters in Singapore;
  • Northern Virginiawith both an 80-acre Ashburn campus which will begin construction in the first quarter of 2022 for a total of 216 MW when completed and a Prince William County campus in its second phase of expansion which will bring 36 MW of additional capacity to by the fourth quarter of 2022, eventually reaching 72 MW;
  • A 19-acre data center campus in Toronto, Canada with 8 MW available in the third quarter of 2022 and an additional 48 MW planned to be introduced in future phases from 2023;
  • Successful delivery of the first 24 MW building, 50% of which is pre-let, at STACK’s flagship, 84 MW Portland campuses, bringing its total current critical capacity to more than 50 MW in the region.
